Burnout—characterized by depersonalization, emotional exhaustion, and reduced personal efficacy—persists among surgeons and medical trainees. A systematic review of 32 randomized controlled trials (2011–2023) indicates that mindfulness interventions reduce burnout and stress in physicians and trainees. The authors describe four modules and five supplemental videos covering mindfulness, meditation, energy leadership, resilience through emotional intelligence, and translating mindfulness into practice. They argue that these concepts are interconnected and can help plastic surgeons address burnout's negative effects on practice and life.
