An 8-week mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) program improved sleep quality, fatigue, depression, and anxiety in 80 family caregivers of people with Alzheimer's disease from a Shanghai community, both immediately after the intervention and at a 25-week follow-up, compared with usual care. Mediation analysis suggested that anxiety, rather than depression, mediated MBSR's effect on sleep quality. The findings validate long-term benefits of MBSR for sleep and emotional health in this caregiver population.
