A German version of the State Mindfulness Scale for Physical Activity (SMS-PA-G) was tested in 129 adults screened for clinical depression. The scale showed good internal consistency and its structure was best explained by a bifactor model combining a general mindfulness factor with specific mind and body factors. As expected, physically active participants scored higher on the SMS-PA-G than inactive ones. The scale correlated with attention, self-efficacy, and sense of coherence, but not with awareness, depression, or anxiety. The SMS-PA-G is a reliable measure of physical activity mindfulness, though its relationships with other constructs need further study.
