Lintas Generasi dalam Tradisi Seblang Olehsari Banyuwangi : Kajian Etnobotani, Konservasi, dan Pewarisan Pengetahuan Lokal di Era Modern

Biocaster : Jurnal Kajian Biologi January 4, 2026 Anas Bagaskara Witanto, Novi Andrilia Pangesti, Nadya Apriyani Putri et al.

The Seblang Olehsari tradition of the Osing people in Banyuwangi, Indonesia, uses 33 types of plants in its sacred ritual processions. A mixed-method study documented these plants and examined how local knowledge is passed between generations. The younger generation recognized a wider range of plant species than the older generation, though some species went unrecognized by both. Local knowledge about ritual plants continues to be transmitted primarily through families and direct observation. The tradition functions as a biocultural conservation mechanism, supporting both biodiversity and the preservation of Osing cultural knowledge.
